Study Circles

Meet new people and study the Word of God, the Meaning of Life, the life of the soul, and share your thoughts.

Everyone can study together to help you understand your purpose in life, build your faith, and become a happy being.

~~~~~~~~
"A Study Circle is a small group that meets perhaps once a week, usually  in the home of one of its members, to study the course materials.  The materials include passages from the Baha'i Writings related to specific themes and acts of service Among the questions participants explore are how to create environments that put people in contact with the spiritual forces released through prayer and devotion; how to strength bonds of friendship and establish meaningful patters of communication among people of various backgrounds; how to make the education of children an integral part of community life; how to help young people develop their intellectual and spiritual capacities; and how to generate dynamics with the family unit that give rise to material and spiritual prosperity."
Community Building
Become a part of something bigger than yourself.  Around the world, people of all ages, faiths, and backgrounds are engaged in a process of Community Building based on the unifying teachings of Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith.
"Through a process of prayerful study, consultation, action, and reflection, children, youth, and adults engage in their own spiritual development.  They explore spiritual concepts together and apply them in their own communities.  Capacities for service are developed and increasingly complex collective actions becomes possible.  Transformation of self and society go hand in hand."
Prayer for Children
". . .Thou seest these children who are the twigs of the tree of life, the birds of the meads of salvation, the pearl of the ocean of Thy grace, the roses of the garden of Thy guidance. . ." - Baha'i Prayer
Baha'i Prayer
O God! Refresh and gladden my spirit. Purify my heart. Illumine my powers. I lay all my affairs in Thy hand. Thou art my Guide and my Refuge. I will no longer be sorrowful and grieved; I will be a happy and joyful being. O God! I will no longer be full of anxiety, nor will I let trouble harass me. I will not dwell on the unpleasant things of life.
O God! Thou art more friend to me than I am to myself. I dedicate myself to Thee, O Lord.                                             - 'Abdu'l-Bahá
Devotional prayers may be offered in the believer's own words. In addition, there is a large corpus of devotional prayers written by the  the central figures of the Bahá'í Faith (the Bab, Baha’u’llah, and Abdu’l-Baha), which are used extensively by Bahá'ís in their devotional life. These prayers, encompassing many topics that include healing, spiritual qualities, tests and difficulties, parents, children, and are held in high esteem. The specific words are believed by many Bahá'ís to have special power. Group reading from prayer books is a common feature of Bahá'í gatherings. Commonly, Bahá'ís gather informally in each other's homes to read prayers in events known as devotionals. Participants in a devotional gathering take turns reading aloud from a prayer book, while the others listen in reverent silence.
Children and Youth Programs
Baha'i Faith: Children and Youth Programs
 Children and Youth Programs
Our Jr. Youth and Youth programs help them to navigate those tough years of growing up and developing into mature adults.
Call 595-3314
"Baha'is view the family as the nucleus of human society and family life as the primary place to develop values and capacities essential to the betterment of society.  The moral and spiritual education of children assumes vital importance in a world where the joy and innocence of childhood can so easily be overwhelmed by materialism.
The Baha'i ideal is a family life that cultivates a loving and respectful relationship between parents and children and promotes the principles of consultation and harmony in decision making.
The teachings emphasize the importance of the education of women and girls, both for their own advancement and because it is through educated mothers that the benefits of knowledge can be most effectively and rapidly diffused throughout society.
Ultimately, the air is for children to increasingly grow up free from all forms of prejudices, recognizing the oneness of humanity and appreciating the innate dignity and nobility of every human being.  Baha'u'llah called on us to regard one another as "the fruits of one tree and the leaves of one branch." Inspired by this vision, Baha'is partner with their neighbors, friends, and colleagues to create programs for the spiritual education of children."
About Us
Principles of the Bahai Faith
image11
The three main Principles of the Baha'i Faith are:  There is only One God, Mankind is One, and Religion is One.  All great religions teach the same spiritual truths....and bring new social teachings for the people of that day and age.
There is only one God.  Since time immemorial, we have always had guidance.
Mankind is one. . . you are all, "drops of one ocean...waves of one sea...leaves of one tree...the flowers of one garden..."
Religion is one. . . they are like chapters in a book.
 Among the principles emphasized by Baha'u'llah (founder of the Baha'i Faith) are:
  • the oneness of humanity
  • the equality of women and men
  • the elimination of prejudice
  • the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty
  • the independent investigation of truth
  • universal education
  • religious tolerance
  • the harmony of science and religion
  • a world commonwealth of nations
  • a universal auxiliary language
Baha'is strive to uphold a high moral standard. Baha'u'llah stressed the importance of:
  • honesty
  • trustworthiness
  • chastity
  • service to others
  • purity of motive
  • generosity
  • deeds over words
  • unity
  • work as a form of worship
 Baha'is follow the moral code of the Ten Commandments - and more. Baha'u'llah forbids:
  • killing
  • stealing
  • lying
  • adultery and promiscuity
  • gambling
  • alcoholic drinks
  • drug abuse
  • gossip and backbiting
Inspiring Writings
image12
"The purpose of God in creating man had been, and will ever be, to enable him to know his Creator and to attain His Presence."
"Immerse yourselves in the Ocean of My  words, that ye may unravel its secrets, and discover all the pearl of wisdom that lie hid in its depths."
"Noble have I created thee, yet thou hast abased thyself.  Rise then unto that for which thou wast created."
"Know thou of a truth that the soul, after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter.  It will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and power will endure.  It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and will reveal His loving kindness and bounty"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Prophet Founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah (the Glory of  God) wrote over 100 volumes of  Spiritual Writings to guide the affairs of humankind for the next 1000 years.

Brief background about the Baha'i Faith:

"Founded a century and a half ago, the Baha'i Faith is today among the fastest-growing of the world's religions.  With more than five million followers, who reside in virtually every nation on earth, it is the second-most widespread faith, surpassing every religion but Christianity in its geographic reach.  Baha'is reside in more than 100,000 localities around the world, an expansion that reflects their dedication to the ideal of world citizenship."

ONE UNFOLDING RELIGION

"The religions of the world have been founded by successive Manifestations of God.  Each religion originates with God and is suited to the age and place in which it is revealed.  In essence, the religion of God is one and is progressively unfolding."

 "There is only one God, the Creator of the universe.  Throughout history, God has revealed Himself to humanity through a series of divine Messengers- each of whom  has founded a great religion.  The Messengers have included Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad.  This succession of divine Teachers reflects a single historic "plan of God" for educating humanity about the Creator and for cultivating the spiritual, intellectual, and moral capacities of the human race.  The goal has been to prepare the way for a single, global, and ever-advancing civilization.  Knowledge of God's will for humanity in the modern age was revealed just over 100 years ago by Baha'u'llah, who is the latest of these divine Messengers."

About Us

Abdu'l-Baha

Abdu'l-Baha, the eldest son of the Prophet Founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'ullah, was the perfect exemplar of the Baha'i Faith's spirit and teachings.  A champion of social justice and an ambassador for international peace, He devoted His life to furthering His Father's causes and to promoting its ideals.  He visited America in 1911-1914, visiting 40 cities. He was greeted with respect and acclaim by Baha'is and the general public alike, and was invited to speak to distinguished groups and organizations at universities, in churches and synagogues, and the homes of prominent individuals.

Each country has a National body of nine Baha'i members elected annually by secret ballot.

In addition, every five years the  International body (The Universal House of Justice), consisting of nine  elected Baha'i members, serve to guide the affairs of the  worldwide community of over 5 million Baha'is.

Jr. Youth & Youth

Youth have played a vital role in  Baha'i History from the very start.  Young people have energy, idealism and the desire to contribute to the betterment of the world, regardless of their social situations...While youth have many matters that occupy their time and energy, by developing patterns of behavior that balance the spiritual and material requirements of life, they discover both personal growth and meaning.

Also, by developing spiritual perception, the power of expression, and a moral framework, youth  are empowered to live a life free of contradictions and contribute to an ever-advancing civilization.
